CAPITAL AND PROCUREMENT NETWORKING (C.A.P.) LUNCHEON**
Business Assistance Center, Inc. a nonprofit community development entity (BAC) is pleased to announce f the Small Business Network’s Capital and Procurement (CAP) Networking Luncheon at Brooklyn’s Jazz Café located at 1701 South Lamar Street Dallas TX adjacent to the South Side Development once a month. The CAP luncheon’s success has come with some of Dallas leading entities hosting and presenting at the Luncheon including Wells-Fargo, Coamerica Bank, Regions Bank Chase/JPMorgan/Bank One, DISD, Wells Fargo, UPS, Washington Mutual, FMS Financial, Wachovia Bank, DCCCD, Prosperity Bank, FedExKinkos, Guaranty Bank, Ester

The Business Assistance Center is the current recipient of the Office of Community Service’s Community Economic Development Grant (under DHHS) of a $700,000 grant for Special Populations Micro-Enterprise Training for a entrepreneurial/employment training dealing with people transitioning from prison (first time offenders), public housing residents, veterans and young adults. A $700, 000 grant for the current start-up and incubation program, Micro-Enterprise Training and Incubation (METI) was received in 2005. The METI program produced 42 entrepreneurs who, to date; have generated over $510,000.00 in business revenue since their participation in the METI program.
Van Howard, BAC President/CEO states, “The CAP Luncheon is the perfect vehicle for new business owners to gain access to financial support and also obtain avenues for procuring contracts”.
“Historically and for too long people of color have not had access to capitol or either been afraid to borrow money” says Terry Allen, Business and Development Director, “The CAP Networking luncheons will provide information to help reduce the existing barriers that prevent individuals from accessing capital and asking for enough money.” Allen says, “This is our 15th month doing the CAP luncheon.
